Through My Eyes: An Exhibition by Alan Kidd
Alan Kidd presents Through My Eyes, a personal journey captured in paint, sculpture, and print. Born in Glasgow in 1943 and shaped by his early years in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Alan’s passion for art led him to study at Walthamstow School of Art, learning from the likes of Peter Blake, Fred Cuming and Ken Howard. After a successful career in advertising and design, Alan fully dedicated himself to his art in 2009.
His work explores the human form in two and three dimensions, focusing on portrait painting and clay sculpture. Alan’s previous exhibitions include a solo show at Ballon Rouge Art Gallery in Thame, and in Rhodesia, Brussels, France, and the UK. His pieces can be found in both private collections and public institutions such as Stoke Mandeville Hospital and The House of Lords Art Collection.
This exhibition features notable works like My Blue Shirt 2011, shortlisted for the Ruth Borchard Competition in 2011, and Shielding 2020, also recognised in the 2021 competition. Both offer a glimpse into Alan’s introspective approach, blending personal experience with universal themes.
